Venraya Bajji – Recipe
A Tamil fritters that can be baked instead ot frying.
Ingredients
- 1 red onion
- 1½ cups chickpea flour
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp corriander
- 1 tsp ground red chilli flakes
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 3 minced cloves garlic
Method
- Heat oven to 200°C (400°F)
- Mix the chickpea four, spices and garlic together
- Add a amall amount of water until a thick smooth batter is formed
- Slice the onion into thin stips Mix the onion with batter
- Form the mixture into small flat disks or balls
- Bake in oven for approximately 20-25 minutes
- Turn the patties over
- Bake in oven for approximately 20-25 minutes
