Brief Overview of WFPB Diets

Humans (or apes) did not evolve to eat any animal-derived products. Chimpanzees are the most omnivorous of all the apes and derive 5% of the diet from animals – mostly live termites which we do not find very appealing.

Professor Stewart Truswell, a 98 year-old professor of nutrition at University of Sydney, says my material is “brilliant” and that he “cannot find any mistakes” in all my material which includes a printed book, ebooks, 150 page website and videos. His bio is on my website. He still has an office at the University of Sydney. I have met him.

This would be much more convincing if I was fit and healthy. The cause of Multiple Myeloma is “environmental and agricultural toxins”. The Hunter Valley has these in excess. There is also a genetic component otherwise more people would be affected.

When I was 60 years old, in 2014, I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. It took 9 months from the initial warning signs until my disease was identified. My wife Ruth was told twice that I would not be coming home. Survival rates in the past few years have risen but I am still living a lot longer than expected.

On the right panel of every page of my website, there is a green “Videos” button with several videos explaining why a whole-food, plant-based nutrition works.

If you view them it will show what is possible. Consider Katherine Lawrence story. She cured her endometriosis (which has the same cause as breast cancer) within 7 weeks by changing what she ate.

Dr. Tony Sattilaro who at the age of 48, was diagnosed with cancerous growths in his skull, right shoulder, prostate, backbone, sternum and genitals. He was not given very long to live. After embarking on a strict macrobiotic diet (that he thought was ludicrous), he found that after 2 weeks his pain had gone and he stopped taking his pain medications. 15 months after starting on the macrobiotic diet, a bone scan showed that Tony was completely free of cancer. A whole-food, plant-based diet is even more effective.

After 10 years, he decided he was cured and he could revert back to his old diet. It did not work.

My webpage Information About Breast, Endometrium and Ovarian Cancers references a paper from 1982 (yes, 1982) that states:

The concept that hormones can cause, i.e., increase the incidence of human cancer, is most developed for the four hormone-related cancers which are numerically the most important, namely, breast, prostate, endometrium, and ovary. 1

Another from the year 2002:

Levels of endogenous sex hormones are strongly associated with breast cancer risk in postmenopausal women. 2

There are quotations from other papers on the same webpage.

There are hundreds of medical journal articles saying the same thing.

The levels of sex hormones is directly related to the amount of animal products we consume.

Gluten-free diets are very detrimental if they are not essential. People miss out on fibre (unless conscious steps are taken) and β-glucans.

On the top panel of my Home page, you can view some stories of what is possible in a very short period of time.

You can find my website by doing a Google search on “richard harding nutrition”.

Below is Ruth Heidrich’s story who was in a perilous situation with breast cancer that had spread into her bones and lung.

For my first 47 years of life, everything went well. I felt perfectly healthy. I ran daily for 14 years, including three marathons, and ate what I considered to be a very healthy diet, with plenty of lean chicken, fish, and low-fat dairy.

What I didn’t know was that cancer was growing in my right breast; that is, until it grew to the size of a golf ball. When the lump was detected I was rushed off to surgery to have it removed. Recovering from the surgery, I was given the bad news: The tumour was malignant. Later, the doctor informed me that the cancer had spread throughout the breast and into my bones and one lung. The prognosis did not look good. While paging through the newspaper during my recovery I saw a call for volunteers for a breast cancer study involving diet. I signed up.

After meeting with Dr. McDougall in 1982 as part of that study, I left his office with instructions to follow a low-fat, vegan diet. That diet changed my life. I am now cancer free. Since my diagnosis three decades ago, I have completed the Ironman Triathlon six times, run 67 marathons, won more than a thousand racing trophies, and been declared “One of the Ten Fittest Women in North America.” At age 74 I had a “fitness age” of 32. I’ve even written a book about my recovery: A Race for Life: A Diet and Exercise Program for Superfitness and Reversing the Aging Process.

There is a large amount of information on my website plus references to others such as Dr. Michael Greger, John McDougall, Colin Campbell, Thomas Campbell and Caldwell Esselstyn.

There is no reason that others cannot achieve the same results as Ruth Heidrich.
