Parippu Dhal Curry – Recipe

A spicey Tamil Parippu Dhal Curry.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups red lentils
  • 1 red onion
  • ½ tsp tumeric powder
  • 1 tsp corriander
  • 1 tsp ground red chilli flakes
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 4 minced cloves garlic
  • 4 cups water

Method

  • Rinse red lentils under running water until water is clear
  • Add small amount of water to saucpan and add spices
  • Cook for two minutes
  • Add rinsed red lentils
  • Cook with lid on saucepan on low heat for approximately 15-20 minutes until cooked – ensure that the dhal does not boil over
